- Alumnus Eun-su Ahn (Global Business '11) holds a laptop donation ceremony for junior students NEW
- On Friday, July 24, the Department of Global Business held a laptop donation ceremony for alumnus Eun-su Ahn (Global Business '11).The ceremony was attended by alumnus Eun-su Ahn, five students receiving the laptops, Dean Jong-eun Lee of the Business School, and the Administrative Office Director of the College of Economics, Business School, and Graduate School of China. This donation was made possible by the alumnus's heartfelt wish for junior students to focus on their studies in a better environment. Alumnus Eun-su Ahn shared that he had experienced difficulty using a high-performance laptop during his college days. Consequently, he decided to make this donation hoping that his junior students would have the opportunity to learn and grow in a slightly better environment. He also expressed the intention behind his donation, saying, "I believe that I am where I am today thanks not only to my own efforts, but also to the great help from the university and those around me. I wanted to return even a small portion of the help I received to my junior students." Dean Jong-eun Lee of the Business School also attended the ceremony, offering congratulations and encouragement to the students while expressing deep gratitude to the alumnus for making the difficult decision to practice meaningful sharing for his juniors. He also expressed hope that this positive influence would lead to a warm culture of giving within the departmental community. Following the ceremony, the alumnus and students spent time freely conversing. The students asked questions about their career paths, college life, and social life, and the alumnus offered sincere advice based on his own experiences. Although brief, it was a meaningful time for seniors and juniors to communicate and share stories. This act of sharing went beyond simply handing out laptops; it served as a platform to share both the alumnus's heart—passing on the help he received at the university to his juniors—and the warm exchange between seniors and juniors.

- Professor Sung-kyun Moon selected as 'Outstanding Reviewer' for JMR, top academic journal in the field of marketing NEW
- Professor Sung-kyun (Marketing) of our university has been selected as an 'Outstanding Reviewer' for the Journal of Marketing Research (hereinafter JMR), a world-renowned marketing journal. This selection recognizes his reviewing capabilities and contribution to the academic community in enhancing the quality of international academic research, further proving our university's global research competitiveness. Published by the American Marketing Association (AMA), JMR is a prestigious international journal and one of the "Top 4" journals in global marketing, alongside the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Consumer Research, and Marketing Science. It is recognized as one of the most influential academic journals for researchers worldwide, publishing innovative marketing theories and empirical research. The JMR Outstanding Reviewer Award is a prestigious honor given to reviewers who have made exceptional contributions during the peer-review process. Selections are known to be based on a comprehensive evaluation of various factors, including timeliness, constructiveness, academic rigor, analytical depth, and objective and polite tone. "It is a tremendous honor just to serve as an Editorial Review Board member for JMR, so receiving the Outstanding Reviewer Award is deeply meaningful and I am very grateful," Professor Moon said. "It came as a surprise, making it even more special, and it has given me a chance to reflect on my past review activities." Following his selection as a JMR Outstanding Reviewer, we conducted an interview with Professor Sung-kyun Moon. 1. Congratulations on being selected as an Outstanding Reviewer for the Journal of Marketing Research (JMR). Could you share your thoughts on receiving this honor? Thank you for the congratulations. Just being a member of the Editorial Review Board for JMR—one of the top marketing journals—is a privilege in itself, so receiving the Outstanding Reviewer Award is a truly grateful and honorable experience. It was completely unexpected, so I was a bit dazed when I heard the news. While reviewing papers takes a lot of time and isn't easy, I learn a lot through the process and feel a sense of fulfillment knowing I'm making an important contribution to academia. This makes me reflect on my past reviews and motivates me to work harder to become a more diligent reviewer who truly helps other researchers. I suppose I'll need to work even harder on my own research to be a good reviewer. 2. Could you explain the criteria used to select Outstanding Reviewers? Journal of Marketing Research (JMR) is a journal managed by the American Marketing Association (AMA) and is recognized as one of the Top 4 journals in marketing, alongside the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Consumer Research, and Marketing Science. While the exact selection criteria for Outstanding Reviewers are not publicly disclosed, I believe editors evaluate reviewers after they submit their paper reviews. I understand that evaluations generally focus on criteria such as timeliness, constructiveness, rigor, depth, and tone (maintaining an objective and polite tone). 3. What are your primary areas of research focus right now? Within the field of marketing, I focus on corporate marketing strategy. Specifically, based on interdisciplinary research integrating marketing with finance and accounting, I study the financial market effects of corporate marketing strategies and activities, as well as how financial markets influence corporate marketing decision-making. Recently, I have broadened the scope of my research to examine how legal and institutional environments affect marketing activities. 4. Could you introduce any upcoming research or projects you have planned?. Expanding on my existing research areas, I plan to conduct research that connects marketing with ESG, business ethics, and sustainability, which are crucial issues in modern corporate management. Currently, collaborating with researchers at overseas universities, I am investigating whether ESG and business ethics issues experienced by customer firms within a corporate relationship network create negative spillover effects for other firms in the network. In addition, as corporate socio-political activities are becoming increasingly important to stakeholders and impacting companies and society broadly, I have begun researching how a company's socio-political activities affect its marketing activities and marketing assets. This selection as a JMR Outstanding Reviewer is an achievement that demonstrates not only individual research capability but also the international research competitiveness and academic standing of Sungkyunkwan University Business School. Through continued active research and international academic engagement, it is expected to play a positive role in advancing global marketing research and expanding international academic exchanges for domestic researchers.
